The Kolisi Cuff
Conservation | July 2026
Some creations are admired for their beauty, while others become meaningful because of the lives they touch.
One year after its launch, the Patrick Mavros Kolisi Cuff has become both.
Created by Patrick Mavros Jnr in collaboration with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, the handcrafted sterling silver cuff was born from a shared belief that craftsmanship should carry purpose, and that luxury can be a force for lasting good.
Since its launch, the Kolisi Cuff has supported the work of the Kolisi Foundation, helping strengthen gender-based violence prevention and response initiatives within public healthcare facilities across the Western Cape.
Over the past year, those initiatives have enabled 18 975 women to be screened for intimate partner violence at Groote Schuur Hospital and Mitchells Plain District Hospital. As a direct result, 11 146 women have received survivor-centred support through counselling, safety planning, court support, referrals and ongoing care.
Beyond those individual lives, the programme has strengthened the ability of public healthcare facilities to identify survivors earlier, provide trauma-informed responses and create safer pathways to specialist support.

01
In July 2025, the Kolisi Foundation partnered with Patrick Mavros to launch the Kolisi Cuff, a handcrafted sterling silver piece inspired by the Foundation's emblem and the enduring spirit of Ubuntu. With a portion of every cuff sold supporting the Foundation's work, the collaboration transformed African craftsmanship into a lasting symbol of purpose, helping fund programmes that change the stories of inequality.

In 2026, the Kolisi Foundation celebrated six years of serving communities across South Africa, marking an important milestone in its journey. The anniversary reflected six years of sustained investment in food security, education and sport, and gender-based violence prevention, while reaffirming the Foundation's commitment to creating lasting, community-led change.
03
Over the past year, the Foundation continued to strengthen programmes that provide practical, long-term support to under-resourced communities. Through trusted local partners, it expanded access to nutritious food, safe learning environments, and opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.
04
The Kolisi Foundation has remained focused on addressing the root causes of inequality rather than providing short-term solutions. By strengthening local organisations and investing in community-led initiatives, it continues to build resilient support systems that create impact long after individual projects are complete.
05
Throughout the year, the Foundation continued to create meaningful opportunities for individuals to become part of its mission, reinforcing the belief that lasting change is built one person at a time. Guided by its philosophy of "Remember the one, one by one," every initiative has encouraged collective action in support of stronger, more resilient communities.
For Patrick Mavros, the milestone reflects something far greater than the success of a single collection. "For generations, our family has believed that the objects we create should carry meaning beyond themselves," says Alexander Mavros. "The Kolisi Cuff represents courage, resilience and generosity – values that Siya embodies so naturally. Knowing that every cuff has contributed to creating safer futures for women makes this one of the most meaningful collaborations in our history."
This collaboration is a truly special one, bringing together two distinctly African stories…
Patrick Mavros, a family business built over more than four decades, and Siya Kolisi, a leader whose journey from Zwide to becoming the first black South African captain to lift the Rugby World Cup has inspired millions while his work through the Kolisi Foundation continues to tackle some of South Africa's most pressing social challenges.

Together, they created a piece that speaks not only of achievement, but of responsibility. Each Kolisi Cuff is handcrafted by Patrick Mavros artisans using traditional silversmithing techniques, ensuring that every piece carries the character and individuality of the hands that made it. Yet its true value lies beyond craftsmanship alone… It lies in the knowledge that something beautiful can also become something profoundly useful.
When the Kolisi Cuff was first unveiled, it was celebrated as a collaboration between two African icons united by a shared commitment to purpose. One year later, its legacy is no longer measured by its design but rather measured by thousands of those who have been seen, heard and supported because one collaboration chose to make impact part of its story.
