Craig, The Tusk Trust and Patrick Mavros
For over thirty years, Tusk Trust has supported forward-thinking and successful conservation intervention in Africa. From the plains of the Serengeti to the rainforests of the Congo Basin, they are working towards a future in which people and wildlife can both thrive across the African continent.
The most famous living tusker is a magnificent elephant called Craig, who lives in Amboseli National Park, Kenya. His tusks are reminiscent of a bygone era, he is a remarkable specimen and a poster child of effective conservation. Patrick Mavros is delighted to introduce The Tusk Collection inspired by Craig and created to shine a light on the remaining super tuskers and the necessity to preserve them for future generations.
10% of the profits of the new collection will be donated to Tusk’s tireless efforts in wildlife conservation. This includes the preservation of elephants through the Big Life Foundation, who protect over 1.6 million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo-Kilimanjaro ecosystem, home to Craig and the last stronghold of East Africa’s precious few Super Tuskers.

“Through their sheer size and majesty, elephants have an amazing ability to capture our imagination and as such, are incredible ambassadors for African conservation. However, these giants of the forests and savanna, particularly “big tuskers", remain under constant threat from human-wildlife conflict, poaching and habitat loss. We’re extremely grateful to Patrick Mavros for supporting our work through their new Tusk collection, which will enable our conservation efforts to continue both for elephants and the diversity of species with which they share the landscape.”
- Charlie Mayhew, Tusk CEO
“Craig is one of the most handsome of bull Elephants I have ever seen, with a temperament that can only be described as that of a gentleman. He is one of maybe twenty Elephants left in Africa today who’s tusks are over 130lb a side. He is more than an icon for me, and stands as a symbol of successful conservation having lived through decades of the worst poaching Africa has ever witnessed.
Being a member of the team that has helped Craig keep his tusks fills me with pride and as he grows older, the challenge will be maintaining the natural habitat in which Craig grew up and where his offspring must roam.
We are pleased that the Patrick Mavros Tusk Collection will help tell the story of Craig and his kind.”

In the Tusk Collection, we have faithfully replicated the identifying features of the distinctive shape of Craig’s ear and his sweeping tusks.
